Carl Hartman is CEO of Red Fuse Communications, WPP’s integrated team solution for Colgate-Palmolive worldwide. Red Fuse is a leading edge integrated agency model that both provides the client with full service capabilities and allows access to the best resources at WPP. He also serves as Head of Shopper Marketing for WPP, working to build customized solutions for clients in the shopper space globally.
Prior to Red Fuse, Carl served as CEO for Geometry in North America. During his tenure at Geometry, he led the creation of the agency’s eCommerce, Multicultural, Experiential and Retail Genius practices. Under his leadership, Geometry North America would become the #1 Shopper Effie-winning agency and the #2 Effie winner overall. Carl continues to serve as Non-Executive Chairman for Geometry.
As Head of Shopper Marketing for WPP, Carl created multi-agency integrated solutions in the shopper space for Unilever (Team Unilever Shopper), General Mills (Shopper Work), and Kimberly-Clark (KC Shopper Connect). Carl also founded the heralded WPP Checkout event, now in its third year, featuring over 14 WPP agencies and industry sponsors like Amazon, Google, Target, and IBM.
Carl also served as WPP Team Leader on Kimberly-Clark, helping KC build their business through innovative and integrated marketing communications solutions.
Carl began his career in advertising at Young & Rubicam, where he ran accounts across the Young and Rubicam brand family, like Colgate, ABB, KFC, the Star Alliance and Burger King.
With the fragmentation of media and the growth of digital communications, Carl transitioned into media, serving as Director of Integration for MEC and running several accounts, such as Cadbury, Energizer, Schick and Playtex, and playing a role in MEC’s Agency of the Year accolades.
He lives in Princeton with his wife Jamie and sons, Hudson and Wyatt.
